Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (2024)

Workshops are valuable locations in Fallout 76 that allow players to expand their control and gather valuable resources. These are fixed locations that, when controlled, can generate a variety of resources using extractors that need to be collected periodically. For players interested in claiming these workshops for themselves, it’s important to know where they’re located and what resources can be generated.

Fallout 76: 11 Most Important Junk Components

Components that players acquire by breaking down junk in Fallout 76 are crucial for everything from base building to repairing weapons and armor.

Updated August 4, 2024, by Benjamin Joe: Fallout 76 is reaching new heights in terms of popularity, primarily due to the popularity of the Fallout TV series. The game has seen a record number of new players joining the world of post-war Appalachia. As new players are leaving Vault 76 for the first time, they'll need to manage their resources and save up materials to craft and repair their weapons and armor pieces and build items at their CAMPs.

Workshops are a great way for players to earn XP, unlock new plans, and passively generate various resources. Keeping stocked up on resources can be a challenge all in itself. So, new players should consider taking over a workshop or two to help them build a stockpile of resources.

21 Billings Homestead

A Great Place For Food

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (2)
  • Food
  • Fertilizer
  • Gold
  • Water
  • Crystal
  • Copper

Billings Homestead is located in the lower part of the forest region, just south of Silva Homestead. This location is place for lower levels as it has plenty of food and water. While eating and drinking is no longer required in Fallout 76, it gives players extra buffs, which come in very handy.

Since this workshop is located in the forest region, the enemies that attack the base tend to be fairly easy to defeat. So, it's pretty easy for lower-level players to keep this base under their control. Due to the layout, it's easy to see enemies coming, as the land surrounding the farm is relatively flat. If the player sticks a couple of turrets on the top of the main building, they should have no issues during enemy attacks.

20 Gorge Junkyard

Ideal For Low-Level Players

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (3)
  • Food
  • Junk
  • Concrete
  • Water
  • Titanium
  • Wood

Gorge Junkyard will most likely be the first workshop that new players come across. It's located just east of Vault 76 along Route 59. This place has one thing that the previous entry didn't: a junk extractor. Junk extractors are a great way to passively farm all sorts of junk items which can be broken down into useful components for repairing items and building bases.

The only real downside of this workshop is that enemies can be hard to spot during an attack, because there are lots of shipping containers that block the player's line of sight. But, if the player uses some strategically placed turrets and traps, they should have no issues warding off any would-be attackers.

19 Lakeside Cabins

Good For Farming Lead

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (4)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Crystal
  • Lead
  • Silver
  • Wood

The Lakeside Cabins can be found in the southern part of the forest region, close to New Gad. It's a great place for lower-level players to come and farm crystal and lead. Lead is especially crucial for low-level players as it is a core material needed to produce ammo.

Fallout 76: 10 Best Perks For New Players

Newcomers to Bethesda's Fallout 76 should consider the following excellent beginner perks.

The area itself is pretty easy to keep secure as it is fairly open. By placing a few turrets on top of the house, the player can take out any would-be invaders with minimal effort. While it's not the only workshop that has lead, it is among the easiest workshops to defend, which makes it ideal for low-level players who want to generate some lead to craft ammo.

18 Poseidon Energy Plant Yard

Not Usually Very Useful

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (6)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Aluminum
  • Fusion Cores
  • Concrete
  • Lead
  • Nuclear Material

This workshop can be a bit tricky to take. Before the player can claim it, they need to complete the event Powering Up Poseidon, a tedious event involves the player running around the area fixing up pipes. As a whole, it's not really worth taking.

While it does offer some great farmable items such as nuclear material, lead, and fusion cores, the effort that is required to use this workshop just isn't worth it. Players are better off focusing their attention on workshops that don't require an event to unlock.

17 Sunshine Meadows Industrial Farm

Great For Farming Pre-War Food

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (7)
  • Food (lots of it)
  • Water
  • Fertilizer
  • Junk
  • Aluminum
  • Concrete

Sunshine Meadows Industrial Farm is one of the best workshops to use. It is located near the Vault-Tec Agricultural Research Center, and it has its own food packaging factory inside. This means that players can produce packaged food passively. The player can choose what type of food to generate by using the terminal located just to the right of the food packaging machine. The foods that can be generated at this location are:

  • Blamco Brand Mac And Cheese
  • Fancy Lads Snack Cakes
  • Preserved InstaMash
  • Sugar Bombs

Also, as mentioned in a previous entry, the ability to farm junk is a big plus because it allows the players to get all sorts of crafting components. This is ideal for players of all levels.

16 Tyler County Dirt Track

A Great Workshop For Low-Level Players

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (8)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Junk
  • Silver
  • Aluminum
  • Fertilizer
  • Steel

This location can be pretty good for newer players. It can be found a little north of Vault 76. It is an abandoned dirt track arena. Because of the way the arena is built, it is easy to see where enemies are hiding during an attack.

While the resources available here aren't particularly rare, it can be a good location for new players to load up on some of the essential junk items in the game. If the player throws down a couple of turrets on the station steps, it should be enough to fend off any attacks.

15 Wade Airport

A Good Place For Farming Oil And Copper

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (9)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Copper
  • Oil
  • Silver

Located just north of the Charleston Capitol Building, Wade Airport is tucked away up on the hillside. It is usually occupied by Super Mutants, so it may be difficult for new players to take over this workshop.

Fallout 76: How to Farm Junk Material

In the Fallout 76 universe, junks are as valuable as jewels; here’s how to farm this precious material.

This workshop is better suited for mid-level players. It has two fairly rare resources that can be farmed: oil and copper. Both of these items are crucial for building, crafting, and repairing certain items. Also, the airport itself has lots of loot for players to collect There are lots of containers inside the hangers along the runway, and the main airport terminal has lots of goodies lying around.

14 Grafton Steel Yard

It Offers More Than Just Steel

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (11)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Steel
  • Copper
  • Lead
  • Oil

Located in the Toxic Valley region near the Pioneer Scout Camp. Grafton Steel Yard is a pretty useful workshop to take over. It allows players to not only farm some of the rarer crafting materials, but players can also fix up the Vertibot landing pad. This will generate Vertibot signal grenades that can be used to call in air support during enemy attacks.

The place is usually guarded by Super Mutants, so it might not be the best choice for newer players. That said, those that take this place over will be able to use the existing extractors to make plenty of steel while they are off doing other things.

13 Hemlock Holes Maintenance

A Great Location For Acid

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (12)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Acid
  • Crystal
  • Gold

Hemlock Holes Maintenance is a good place to get lots of acid quickly. It is located in the Toxic Valley, just west of Wavy Willard's Water Park. It is a pretty easy location to take over and defend, which makes it ideal for players of all levels. It is also a fairly small location, which makes it easier to see where enemies are during an attack. Sometimes, players fight each other for this place due to the amount of acid that the workshop produces.

The acid deposits in this location inflict damage on any players that stand in them. So, it's worth being a little careful while setting up extractors.

12 Beckley Mine Exhibit

The Most Southern Workshop

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (13)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Crystal
  • Oil

Located right at the bottom of the map in the ash heap, this workshop has quite a lot of oil that is available for players to mine. There are three places where oil extractors can be placed, making it a very valuable location for those in need of oil. The place is usually swarming with Protectrons and Robobrains, so it's not the best place for low-level players to go to get extra oil. But for mid to high-level players, this place is ideal.

It's also worth noting that aren't any free fast travel points nearby. The closest one is Nuka-World on Tour. So, by taking over this workshop, the player will have access to a useful fast travel location that doesn't cost any Caps.

11 Charleston Landfill

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (14)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Junk
  • Aluminum
  • Copper
  • Steel

Located next to the AVR Medical Center, Charleston Landfill sits on the outskirts of the ash heap region. Since this place is an actual landfill, it contains lots of junk. In fact, the player can place three junk extractors in this workshop, making it an excellent place to stock up on all sorts of materials.

This workshop is a good one to take, no matter the level of the player. The enemies are fairly easy to take care of, and the resources are definitely worth farming.

10 Mount Blair

It Looks Good, But It Doesn't Offer Much

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (15)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Oil

Mount Blair is hard to miss. The player can see the heavy-duty mining machinery from very far away. Unfortunately, while it looks quite grand, it doesn't have much to offer. It spans across multiple levels, making it a nightmare finding all the enemies during an attack, and the only core component it offers is oil.

This workshop is a disappointing one, as it can be seen from very far away. New players assume that a structure that large must be worth visiting, but it's not. This place is best left alone. It offers little to no advantages for those who occupy it. Instead, head for the previous entry, as it has much more to offer.

9 Federal Disposal Field HZ-21

Lots Of Nuclear Material

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (16)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Acid
  • Nuclear Material
  • Oil

Located south of R&G Station, HZ-21 is a high-level area that low-level players should avoid. It's swarming with glowing ones. While it is difficult to take, it does offer rare materials like acid and oil, which makes it a fairly good place to take. Nuclear Material can also be pretty hard to come by, especially at the lower levels.

If they can passively generate Nuclear Materials, the player will be able to craft some of the game's top-tier armor pieces instead of having to spend lots of time hunting inside blast zones. While it isn't the best workshop in Fallout 76, it can be useful for getting some of the rarer junk items in the game.

8 Monongah Power Plant Yard

Another Power Plant

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (17)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Fusion Core

This place is actually worse than the other power plant workshops. The only real thing this place offers is fusion cores. Players will need to actually power up the facility before being able to take over the workshop. This is lots of work for not much of a reward.

Very rarely do players take over this place. While it can be looted for some junk items, it's not worth taking over the workshop.

7 Red Rocket Mega Shop

The Iconic Red Rocket

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (18)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Junk
  • Aluminum
  • Nuclear Material
  • Steel

The Red Rocket Mega Stop is located on the eastern side of the map. It is right off Route 66. It is a pretty good place to occupy, as players can farm nuclear material here. Also, there are a few shops and a café that players can loot for extra junk.

It is usually swarming with robots, so if the player isn't at a high level, then it's worth being extra careful while taking over this workshop. Overall, it's a solid workshop.

6 Berkeley Springs West

High-Level Enemies, Not Suited For New Players

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (19)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Crystal
  • Aluminum
  • Lead

Located in the mire region in Berkeley Springs, this workshop can be fairly useful. For starters, it offers lead and crystal, two resources that can be hard to come by. It also has lots of great places that the player can climb on top of to see enemies during an attack.

While it's not the best workshop in the game, should a player need extra lead and crystal, this isn't a bad place to take.

5 Dabney Homestead

A Farm With A Lot To Offer

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (20)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Fertilizer
  • Copper
  • Junk
  • Concrete
  • Wood

Dabney Homestead is located a little south of Valley Galleria in the Mire region. It is usually guarded by some angry mutated insects, which can be difficult to kill if the player is new to the game.

This location is a pretty easy place to defend, as there's a barn with a high roof from which players can shoot. It also has some pretty good materials to farm, making it a good place to take over.

4 Dolly Sods Campground

Not The Best, Not The Worst

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (21)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Lead
  • Gold
  • Wood

Located in the mire region just south of Dolly Sods Wilderness, Dolly Sods Campground is usually occupied by fairly tough enemies like Anglers. While it does have gold and lead available for farming, there are better workshops to go to that are easier and offer more resources.

This location is geared toward high-level players, but most high-level players tend not to bother claiming Dolly Sods Campground as it's not really worth it. That said, if there's a daily or weekly challenge that requires players to take over workshops, then Dolly Sods is a good one to take. While the enemies are tough, there aren't really any places for them to hide. Simply hop onto one of the metal structure behind the workbench, and the player should have no issues seeing and shooting all the enemies.

3 Thunder Mountain Power Plant Yard

Usually Not Worth The Effort

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (22)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Crystal
  • Fusion Core
  • Nuclear Material
  • Steel
  • Wood

This workshop is located in the Mire region. It can be found north of Crevasse Dam. Similar to the other power plant workshops, this one requires an event to be completed before it can be used. Because of this, it's usually not worth doing.

While the location does offer some rare materials, there are easier and quicker methods of gathering rare junk. Also, this isn't a great place for low-level players, as the enemies can be quite tough in this region.

2 Abandoned Bog Town

Hard Enemies But Good Resources

Fallout 76: Every Workshop Location (& What Resources They Provide) (23)
  • Food
  • Water
  • Concrete
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Acid
  • Oil

This workshop is located in the Cranberry Bog region. The Cranberry Bog region is a place that new players should try to keep away from. It is an area that is filled with tough enemies.

While the resources available are fairly good, most players who take over this place do it for the enemies. The place is crawling with tough enemies like Super Mutants and even Super Mutant Behemoths. These enemies offer great XP, and they tend to drop good loot.
